Group photo tips
Photographs are a family’s prized possession especially a group photograph taken at weddings or an anniversary or any occasion when a large number of the family are present However it is noticed that most of these photographs are not very well taken. Very often the focus is not alright. Sometimes if one person is looking into the camera; the other person is looking away, or blinking. The most common mistake committed while taking a group photo is that the group do not fit into the shot. If the following group photo tips are kept in mind while shooting it is certain that you will get a fairly good group photo. * First of all be fully prepared to take the photo before the group arrives .Nobody likes to be kept waiting .So think of the location and the pose, keep the camera in readiness so that no one has to wait for a long time. * The location is very important, as there should not be too many distractions .The focus should be on the group .Further the background should be a relevant one for instance, if the group is a sports group, then photo shooting in a playground would make sense, not otherwise. * Choose a place which preferably has light, but not in front of a window, as the light from the flash might reflect back .Also, ensure that the light is not on the faces of the group, as everyone may then end up squinting. * It is always beneficial to shoot group photos with the camera in the continuous shooting mode so that you can get a group of shots and select the best .The first shots are never the best ,as people tend to relax only after one or two shots. * It is best, if you move as close as possible to the group when you are shooting, as you can only then get a detailed shot. If it is a small group you can try making them lean their heads close to enable you to get closer. * If the group photo is centered around one or two people then keep them in the center and arrange the others around them .Arrange them in such a way that the taller ones are at the back. * The timing of the shot should be perfect, so that the whole group is at their best, with their chins up. * While taking the shot, try and get everyone’s attention, communicate to them what exactly you want them to do and try to keep them relaxed, so that this is reflected in the photograph. * Using a tripod while shooting a large group is also advisable, as you can be comfortable arranging the group, after setting up the camera. more
